Who is responsible for your data
Sirahan is operated by a private individual based in Norway, who is the data controller for the information described here. You can reach the operator at [email protected] for any privacy question, including to request the controller's identity.
What we collect
- Your phone number (to authenticate you).
- An optional display name and email.
- Listings you post, including photos and descriptions.
- Messages you send to other users through Sirahan.
- Basic analytics: which listings you viewed, when you tapped "Show seller phone", and the IP address and device/browser (user agent) for those events.
Why we collect it, and our legal basis
- To run the marketplace and keep your account secure (performance of our agreement with you).
- To detect spam, fraud, and stolen-vehicle listings, and to keep the platform safe (our legitimate interest).
- To understand which categories and filters get used, so we can improve the product (our legitimate interest).
Who sees what
- Your phone number is shown to a buyer only when they tap "Show seller phone" on one of your listings.
- Your display name and listings are public.
- Messages are visible to you and the other person in the conversation, and to us if we need to investigate a report.
- We never sell your personal data to third parties.
Service providers we share data with
To run Sirahan we use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf, only as needed to deliver the service:
- An SMS provider (Twilio) to send your login codes. Your phone number is shared with them for this.
- Cloud hosting and a content network (our hosting provider and Cloudflare), which process IP addresses to serve the site.
- Object storage for listing photos.
- An error-monitoring service (Sentry) that helps us fix crashes.
Some of these providers are based outside Norway and the EEA (for example in the United States). Where data is transferred, we rely on the provider's standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.
Retention
Listings remain searchable until you remove them. Account data is kept while your account is active, plus a limited window after deletion (typically up to 12 months) so we can investigate fraud or comply with legal requests, after which it is deleted or anonymised.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and you can object to or ask us to restrict certain processing. You can edit your profile, mark listings sold, or remove listings yourself at any time. For anything else, email [email protected] and we will respond within the time the law allows.
If you believe we have mishandled your data, you have the right to complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet).
Age
Sirahan is intended for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in, to remember your language choice, and to remember which listings you've viewed (so we don't double-count). We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
Changes
We may update this notice. If we make a significant change, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know.
